Announcing Spring 2020 Chapbook Prize Winner

We are proud to officially announce that Julie Howd is the winner of the Host Publications Chapbook Prize for Spring 2020!

In addition to publication, Julie will receive $1,000, 25 copies of the published chapbook, national distribution with energetic publicity and promotion by our dedicated staff, and a rad release party at Malvern Books here in Austin, TX.

We are so excited to share Julie's wild and eloquent poetry with you, and feel that her forthcoming chapbook is a spectacular example of the caliber of work we strive to publish. These poems reach backward and forward in time simultaneously, breathing life into the language of antiquity, while fearlessly exploring of the issues that flood our present-day consciousness.

Julie Howd is a poet from Massachusetts. Her first chapbook, Talking from the Knees Up, was published by dancing girl press in 2018. She holds an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received the 2015 Roy Crane Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Creative Arts. Her work can be found in Deluge, The Spectacle, Sixth Finch, and elsewhere. She lives in Amherst, MA.

We're been so lucky to work with such a talented, generous-spirited poet these past few months, and we can't wait to share her work with you!

Save The Date: Julie's chapbook launch will be held on Saturday, February 29th (leap day!) at Malvern Books, 7:00 PM. We hope to see you there!
